Counterpoint is an independent magazine featuring original writing and amazing illustration. Each issue has a different, unique theme and comes packed with thoughtful features and gorgeous original artwork.

We pride ourselves on showcasing brilliant illustrators alongside the work of the best new writers and journalists. Counterpoint has been shortlisted for Stack's Best use of Illustration award 3 times.

Hand-bound, risograph printed

Each issue of Counterpoint is hand bound and risograph printed in Edinburgh using soy-based inks and recycled paper, with quirks of printing that mean each copy of the magazine is unique. All our profits are shared equally between contributors.

About us

Counterpoint is edited by illustrator and printmaker Bethany Thompson and journalist Sam Bradley. We founded Counterpoint as an online project in 2013.
